Nikkhil Advani

Nikkhil Advani is a National Award-winning filmmaker from India. He is a director, producer, screenwriter, and co-founder of Emmay Entertainment & Motion Pictures, based out of Mumbai. Advani's feature films as a director include the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chandni Chowk to China, Salaam-e-Ishq, Patiala House, Batla House, D-Day, Vedaa, and Delhi Safari, among others.

More recently, Advani has been creating extensively for digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and SonyLiv. His work includes award-winning shows like Mumbai Diaries and Rocket Boys, and most recently, a web series based on Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins’s bestseller Freedom at Midnight.

Advani also serves on the boards of non-profit organizations like the G5A Foundation for Contemporary Art and Culture, Bittu Sahgal's Sanctuary Nature Foundation, Women in Film - India and the Sumitra Gupta Foundation for the Arts (SGFA)— a foundation that supports creative and artistic projects across disciplines.

Suparna Gupta

Suparna Gupta is the founder of Aangan, established in 2002 to protect children facing extreme vulnerability and systemic neglect in state-run shelter homes, prisons and most-marginalized districts of India. Her work has been recognized: She was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship for Leading Social Entrepreneurs, Asia 21 Leadership Award, Edward S Mason Fellowship, Harvard Kennedy School and Ash Centre Fellowship for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard. Suparna serves on the boards of Dasra and Karuna Practice. Her writing about children, safety and the social sector  has been published in The Wire, Scroll, and The Washington Post. She recently launched The Survivor Care Network, an initiative to support survivors of  harm or exploitation like human trafficking, bonded labour, ethnic conflict or violence -  to navigate their recovery journeys.

Suranjana Gupta

Suranjana Gupta is Senior Advisor on Community Resilience at the Huairou Commission. With more than thirty years of global experience working at the intersection of climate resilience, poverty and women’s empowerment, she leads a program that demonstrates pro-poor, climate resilience  driven by grassroots women in Nepal, Indonesia and Cambodia. Her work focuses on facilitating collaborative learning and partnerships with climate finance, technical and policy institutions, advocating for increasing resource flows and decision-making power to  grassroots women’s organizations. She currently serves on the boards of Swayam Shikshan Prayog India and Global Witness. Suranjana studied  Sociology at The University of Mumbai and  Development Studies at  the London School of Economics. She also trained in Rabindra Sangeet and Hindustani Classical Music.

The foundation honors Sumitra Gupta, celebrating her everyday creativity, curiosity, unconventional humour, and kindness. As an educator at the Central School for the Deaf, Mumbai, she wove art into her classroom for three decades. As a parent and mentor, she championed unconventional journeys and valued the stories she chose to tell—always marked by humor, empathy, and deep humanity. SGFA carries forward her spirit by supporting those who dare to create differently and dream boldly.

  • Naheed Taher Carrimjee

    Naheed Taher Carrimjee is a founding partner of DDCM, a leading Mumbai-based law firm, and has over 30 years of experience as a solicitor. Alongside her legal practice, she has consistently championed causes close to her heart including recycling, the arts, urban gardening, and social justice. She serves as a trustee of Sightsavers India and Under the Mango Tree Society, both dedicated to equity and grassroots empowerment. A passionate reader and advocate of ecosystem restoration, Naheed brings to SGFA her deep belief in building communities where diverse perspectives and cultural expression can flourish.

  • Niloufer Moochchala

    Niloufer Moochchala is the creative principal of Nymdesign, a boutique studio specializing in branding, digital, and print design. With over 25 years of experience, she has collaborated with global institutions such as the United Nations, Amnesty International, Microsoft, and universities including Yale, Stanford, and Harvard. Alongside her design practice, Nilou is an artist whose work explores cross-cultural transformation through collage, assemblage, and public installations. Widely exhibited and featured in outlets such as The Boston Globe and PBS, she has received multiple arts grants and her work is archived in major institutions. Bringing together design thinking and cultural practice, Nilou offers SGFA a global perspective on how art and storytelling can bridge histories with contemporary voices, expanding the reach and resonance of independent narratives.

  • Madison Cox

    A garden designer and writer with offices in both New York City and Morocco, He serves on a number of boards of foundations including as President of the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent in Paris; President of the Foundation Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. He has been actively involved with the American School of Tangier and the American School of Marrakech since 2005 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the board.

  • Rajnish Dhall and Moneisha Gandhi

    Rajnish Dhall is the Co-Founder and former CEO of Micro Housing Finance Corporation, which pioneered access to housing finance for urban low-income families in India’s informal sector. Before entering the social impact space, he spent 15 years with American Express Bank across Mumbai, Singapore, and London, leaving as Senior Director in 2006. Under his leadership, MHFC not only expanded financial access for thousands of households but also became a benchmark for innovative, mission-driven business models before being acquired by the Birla family in 2018. Rajnish now serves on the board of Ummeed, an NGO supporting children with developmental disabilities. His ability to combine strategic leadership, financial discipline, and a deep commitment to social equity brings SGFA invaluable guidance in building a sustainable and impactful model for bold storytelling.

    Moneisha is co-founder of Buddy Up Network, an inclusive and accessible social app for people with disabilities and anyone experiencing loneliness or social isolation to find friendship, companionship, and community. The platform also supports caregivers by connecting them with other caregivers and helping their children build friendships. Before co-founding Buddy Up Network, Moneisha managed a hand-embroidery export business. She has volunteered with the family resource centre at Ummeed Child Development Center and has actively advocated as a parent for inclusive education at her son’s school. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Mumbai and a Diploma in Mass Communication from the Xavier Institute of Communications. 

  • Rohan Sippy

    Rohan Sippy is a director and producer in Mumbai. He has directed the films Kuch Naa Kaho (2003)  Bluffmaster (2005), Dum Maaro Dum (2011), and Nautanki Saala (2013), as well as directing the series Criminal Justice, Shekhar Home, Search- The Naina Murder Case,  Mithya, Duranga, Sandwiched Forever, WFH, SideHero, and The Office. He was a co-creator and the showrunner of the Netflix series Aranyak. As a producer, his credits include Taxi No. 9211 (2006), Chandni Chowk To China (2009), The President Is Coming (2009) & Shimla Mirchi (2020). In 2011 he designed and directed Love & All that Jazz for Chivas Studio, a live musical theatre piece in the tradition of a Broadway musical. He serves on the board of MAMI, Mumbai's international film festival. He also serves on the board and heads content at Agrigate, a rural tech firm building a digital gateway between the rural and modern economy. 

  • Arjun Sawhney

    Arjun Sawhney is the visionary behind a dynamic collective of companies that have redefined branding, communication, and design in India. After completing his MBA at the College of William & Mary, USA, he began his career as an investment banker with Citibank before following his passion for creative communication. This led to the founding of The Friday Corporation in 1999, followed by ventures such as The Communication Council, Green Goose Design, Periscope, and TCC Social. Most recently, he co-founded Pristine Contemporary, a gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design. Arjun’s entrepreneurial journey demonstrates how creative strategy can build enduring platforms and audiences – an approach that directly enriches SGFA’s mission to amplify stories and cultural dialogue.
